This is one of my most favorite places on earth. Chesterfield, England.
This is the towns landmark twisted spire. There are a couple stories as to why the spire of the church is so twisted: - that the devil came down to earth and sat upon the spire. When he went to fly off, his tail caught upon the spire and twisted it. - that one day there was a wedding in the church and to everyone's surprise, the bride was a virgin! Even the tower was in such disbelief that it had to turn itself around to see if it was. Since then they have said when the next virigin gets married there, the spire will twist back into place. - that it was built with wet wood that hadn't completely dried yet. So as it dried it twisted and warped. You be the judge. |
